Though a handful of Tyler Soderstrom’s offensive statistics rank near the top among American League outfielders, the Turlock native and Athletics star has lots of votes to make up as he vows to be named an All-Star for the first time in his career.

On Monday morning, Major League Baseball released their first update of Phase 1 fan voting for the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15.

Soderstrom, who has gotten off to a hot start in his first full season in the big leagues, ranks 14th in the American League outfield race, having received 218,444 votes since the polls opened on June 4.

Atop the leaderboards in the AL that would be named starters in the outfield if voting ended today are Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees (1,568,527), Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers (675,070) and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels (475,265). Judge, a native of Linden, has the most votes across all of baseball.

Heading into Tuesday’s home game against the Houston Astros, Soderstrom remained the lone A’s player to play in all 74 games of the 2025 campaign. In those opportunities, the 23-year-old has posted a .254 batting average (69-for-272) and a .798 OPS with 14 home runs, 11 doubles, a triple, 34 walks, 45 RBI and 38 runs scored this season.

Of those 74 appearances, 40 have been at first base and 34 have been in left field, a position he had never played until April 23 to accommodate the call-up of top prospect Nick Kurtz.

Among outfielders, Soderstrom’s home run count ranks tied for third with Greene behind Judge’s 26 and 18 from Los Angeles Angels veteran Taylor Ward. He is fourth in RBI behind Judge’s league-leading 60, Greene’s 49 and Ward’s 47, and fourth in walks trailing Judge’s 47, Seattle Mariners star Randy Arozarena at 37, and Toronto Blue Jays leadoff man George Springer’s 35.

With Judge sitting comfortably as the league’s leading vote-getter, the next four outfield finalists are set to move on to Phase 2 to determine who starts at the two remaining spots, with that vote scheduled to start on June 30.

Unless Soderstrom receives a historic dump of votes from now until June 26 when Phase 1 voting ends, his best shot at being named an All-Star would be as one of the 12 reserve position players elected through the Player Ballot or an appointment through Commissioner Rob Manfred’s office. Additional All-Stars could be named to accommodate injuries or players choosing to opt-out for other reasons.

The complete All-Star rosters will be announced at 2 p.m. PST July 6 on ESPN. Fans can submit up to five ballots a day on MLB.com, the MLB's mobile app or at any of the 30 MLB stadiums.
